Creating Invoices
Learn how to create professional invoices in Daybook.
Creating a New Invoice
- Click Invoices in the sidebar
- Click New Invoice
- Select a client (or add a new one)
- Add line items
- Review and send
Line Items
Each line item includes:
- Description: What you're billing for
- Quantity: Number of units (hours, items, etc.)
- Rate: Price per unit
- Amount: Calculated automatically (Quantity × Rate)
Adding Multiple Items
Click Add Line Item to add more items. Drag items to reorder them.
Discounts
To add a discount:
- Click Add Discount
- Choose percentage or fixed amount
- The discount appears before tax
Tax
Click Add Tax to apply your configured tax rates. See Tax Rates in Canada for setup instructions.
Due Dates
Set when payment is expected:
- Due on Receipt: Payment due immediately
- Net 15: Due in 15 days
- Net 30: Due in 30 days (default)
- Custom: Choose any date
Notes and Terms
- Notes: Visible to customer (thank you message, project details)
- Terms: Payment terms, late fees, etc.
Saving vs Sending
- Save as Draft: Saves without sending to client
- Send Invoice: Emails invoice to client immediately
